Australian Native Extracts – Natures Gift to Natural Skin Care and Aussie Beauty

Sandalwood imageWhen developing the Native Natural Skincare care, the aim was to find active ingredients that not only sounded exotic and interesting, but ingredients that could actually make a difference to the skin. It made no sense that in a country the size of Australia, there were few products being made using the special native ingredients that grow all around us. And from a sustainability or environmental aspect it didn’t seem right to be using plant extracts from as far away as Europe or Brazil.

Hence began my search for Australian extracts that fitted the criteria for having fantastic active ingredients backed up by solid research. The search ended with the discovery of an exquisite range of native extracts, grown across Australia from Tasmania in the south, through the arid central dessert and up to the top of the Northern Territory and the Kimberley’s of Western Australian. Along the coastal boarders, rainforest herbs and trees such as Mountain Pepper Berry and Crown of Gold have also had their secret nature revealed by modern technology.

Sourcing of Australian Natives

These unique species of plants are sourced and collected using several different methods in order to supply the live plant ingredients for extraction of its valuable bio-actives.  The sourcing and supply of the native plants can include Bio-prospectors who explore the traditional uses of plants,  organic /bio-ethically established growers and/or Wild Harvested species from communities in remote regions of Australia.

Southern Cross University reveals the hidden treasures of Australian Native Extracts

Using chromatography and other techniques, each plant has been tested by Southern Cross University who revealed the incredible nature of the bio-actives compounds contained within. It is believed that the extreme nature of the climate in some parts of Australia, are responsible for the plants producing extraordinarily, potent levels of bio-active ingredients. The bio-active properties discovered have incredibly useful actions that can be harnessed into super foods and cosmetics such as skin care, hair care, anti aging and skin lightening products. These include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and photo protection properties as well as skin conditioning and hydrating agents.
